Christmas is over..

So now that Christmas time is over and we are ready for the new year to begin the various options begin to play out in my head.  Where are we going this year?  What things do we want to accomplish?     Christmas is such a great family time of year.  I think many people miss out on the awesome opportunities Christmas brings.  Our kids enjoyed making a birthday cake for Jesus and singing this year. It was incredible. They were so excited!    As always being engulfed in a sea of wrapping paper was the main event.

My husband and I spent time serving at Metropolitan Ministries Christmas Eve. How eye opening to see the number of clients served..almost 30,000 this year.   Many of them had a job and plenty of money last year and now came in for assistance.  Heartbreaking to see and yet so awesome to get to serve them in their time of need.

Happy  New Year to Everyone and we wish you all the best in whatever endeavors you choose this year.  Just remember, in all things, give thanks and Be Happy!!

6 years ago today..!!

I can’t believe 6 years ago today my first son was born. THe most beautiful part is that he was born on National Adoption Day and he is our first adopted child. I was so blessed to have a relationship with his birthmom and she allowed me into the room as her coach during his delivery. I was allowed to cut the cord separating him from his biological mother. THe gift she gave is absolutely incredible and one I am forever grateful for!!

My sweet Jacob has grown into an amazing Kindergartener. He’s an awesome big brother to our daughter and the twins. If you’ve never considered adoption, I would suggest taking alook at it. It will change your life and the life of a child in ways you can never imagine.

Happy Birthday Sweet Sweet Jacob!! Mommy and Daddy love you so much!

Fire!

Well, I must say today was quite the adventure. We took our kids out to grab a quick bite to eat after church before a birthday party at a bounce house facility. When we entered the BBQ place it was smokey, but isn’t a BBQ place supposed to be? Well, not that much apparently. Within a few moments of our arrival so did 4 fire trucks and they shooed us out of the restaurant quickly. Turns out the chimney had clogged up and caught fire dropping firey pieces of soot into the grill. Wow!!! What a mess… I like mine done, but not that crispy.. So glad everyone is ok, but it reminds me of how quickly things can turn on a dime. Life is so unpredictable so we must value it everyday and enjoy it. My oldest son thinks now being a fireman is one cool job! I think he’s right, they are amazing people..! After all, firemen delivered our twins ! Forever grateful is certainly an understatement!

Are you a Facebook addict???

Now that we have four children at home life has become difficult in a couple new ways.  We are truly blessed to have four beautiful children, however sometimes it makes the finances a little tight.  So I have been searching for a way to make some money from home without the sacrifice of my family.  And truthfully something that I can do that can make me some money even when I am not working.  I like the residual income effect.  But I”m finding it takes work and quite a bit of faith.  But I can see the fruits of my labor forthcoming.  Here is one way I have found to accomplish this… Facebook..!  Social media is helping us so much as moms and we are not tapping into it.  Even if you are a working mom, you may want to look into how this can work for you. And who knows, may be eventually you can just work part time.  Isn’t your family worth the try?

Making Money with Facebook

Why weight?

So when babies come along most women find it difficult to get any reasonable amount of exercise into their day.  Even though I have adopted my children, I have only been at my ideal weight for a short time in my life. I struggle constantly to maintain a comfortable weight. Now with children on my schedule it becomes even more difficult (especially with the twins).  Well try this out and see how it works for you.. Simple and effective.  Just remember, the biggest thing to success, is DOING IT!   Best of Luck!!

Grocery Shopping …really..

Survival Guide to Raising Twins

Well, I must say that something I never considered to be too difficult with kids was grocery shopping.  Well, with twins I have started to change my mind.  I don’t find it as easy to venture into the grocery store just to pick up a few things with the boys in tow.  I have done it a few times because there was a immediate need.  However, pushing a double stroller while pulling a grocery cart is not an easy feat.  Wow!   I wish these things had better instructions how to handle them.  And boy do I get looks going through the store. I can’t tell if they are looks of sympathy, irriation or amazement.  It’s really funny to watch people’s reactions.  But nonetheless, I do what has to be done….I do suppose as most moms do.  But I do wish the carts accomodated 2 car seats…

November is National Adoption Month

This month marks a very very special recognition/remembrance time in my life. It’s National Adoption month. Given I have 4 adopted children; it holds a special place in my heart!  When my oldest son was born it was on National Adoption Day, 2005.  What perfect timing for such a beautiful event. I hope that if you have ever considered adoption you will pursue it further. There are so many children in this world who just need someone to love them.  Being a parent goes well beyond giving birth. Moms and Dads come from the heart.  I believe them to be the most influential and live changing people in the world.  I am proud to be a Mom.   Join me and the other parents through adoption!

Argh…Teething!!!

Well, it’s teething time for the twins and I must say ….ugh!  When the boys first cut their bottom 2 teeth it was a breather….no worries..  The uppers, well, let’s just say that tylenol should be sold by the gallon and be accompanied with a pill for mom and dad.  Lack of sleep on my part has made life really tough lately.  I’ve been using the Humprhey’s tablets and those do seem to help.  But this time, unlike my other two children, the twins are getting rashes and lots of fevers!  Holy Moly…  I cannot wait until this passes.   Lots of my friends suggested using Ibuprofen vs. Tylenol, unfortunately I found out because of the prematurity and issues the twins have, that was not an option. Bummer…  Anyone out there relate?

My twins dislike riding in the car

So I’m beginning to see that my twins do not care to ride in the van.  Is that a BIG change from my other two children.    Gabriel will cry the second we put him in his carseat and then of course, he gets Caleb going in the car.   Ugh!  So driving down the road with two crying infants is definitely enough to drive you a little crazy.  The noise just rings in my head.    Any other parents out there have similar issues?   Most of the time babies go to sleep in the car……right?

Halloween Costumes

Happy Halloween

It’s that time of year again…the leaves changing and the weather changing, well atleast in many parts of the country. For us here in Florida it remains humid.  But Halloween approaches and we as parents face the question:  What do my kids want to be this year?  If yours are like mine at all that changes on a daily basis making purchasing a costume almost impossible.    I have found visiting consignment stores seems to help the  kids make up their minds easier.  I just can’t justify spending over $25 on a costume that will be worn a few hours.  And the twins,  they don’t yet care what they are, however have you all found that you are still expected to dress up your littlest one too?  I think its hilariou the things we fall in to by expectation.  But it’s fun.  Just be safe whatever you do and always check the kids candy.
